Podcast: Play in new window

BOB HIRSHON (host):
Please don’t feed the humans. I’m Bob Hirshon and this is Science Update.

At the Adelaide Zoo in Australia, the newest primate display is people. Groups of humans have been living inside an enclosure one week at a time, while zoo visitors watch through windows and live webcams. An animal psychologist is also living inside, studying the humans in this not so natural habitat, and learning what it’s like to live in a fishbowl environment. The human zoo is next door to exhibits with other primates, giving zoo visitors a chance to compare and contrast.

In other news, a new website at www.wikileaks.org allows people to post secrets anonymously. The site hides the identity of the person posting documents and other information. It’s intended to help whistleblowers in repressive societies leak information without being arrested.

I’m Bob Hirshon, for AAAS, the science society.
