Science Update does not release names, phone numbers, e-mail addresses, or postal mail addresses to outside organizations. Users are not required to provide any personal information in order to use the site. Science Update requests contact information only when users send a message to Science Update using the designated form. When provided, personal information may be used to respond to messages from users, e.g., to respond to comments, give permissions, clarify a question, inform a user that his/her question has been selected, and send a prize to a user whose question has been selected to be broadcast. By providing a name and address, the user agrees to have his or her full name and city and state of residence read on the air and posted to the website. Those who do not wish to have their full names and/or places of residence read on the air must indicate this in writing in the body of their message.
